The Glitter Box and Meowy Jane have a shared entry way, but the Glitter Box is technically separate from the Meowy Jane dispensary, as cats would not be allowed to live inside the dispensary, for many reasons. We do have a catio tunnel system which connects the lounge to the boutique, so you may catch a glimpse of a kitty while shopping in Meowy Jane!

Yes, we do require that all guests are at least 18 years of age for entry. The lounge does have a cannabis theme and is adjacent to a cannabis dispensary (Meowy Jane). However, if you are *serious* about adopting one of our resident kitties and have younger family members that would like to meet them first, please contact us ahead of time for accommodations.

No, the state of Maine does not allow consumption lounges and it is not safe for the kitties. 

We have complimentary coffee, tea and water available. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks inside the lounge - though we do not have any available for purchase at this time. 

Yes! All our kitties are available for adoption, though occasionally some may be on hold for various reasons! 

Yes, we only allow up to 5 people in the lounge at a time. This means you may also be in the room with another group. This is not a large space, and we try to keep it comfortable for everyone - visitors and kitties. 

Check our website to see who is currently available, but usually 4-8 cats depending on the day and rate of adoption at any given time.

Yes, we do on a case by case basis! Currently we offer the space for small gatherings. We can have up to 8 people in the lounge comfortably at a time. If you'd like to book the room for a party larger than 5, please e-mail us for accommodations. Also follow along on social media for movie night and other Glitter Box event announcements

We take all major credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Though if you book online, a credit card is required. 

The cat lounge does need money to function, like any other business.  All adoption fees go to Animal Welfare Society, so the small fee we charge for visitation goes directly to our cost of operating. 

If you can't make your appointment, we please, please, ask that you cancel it or call ahead to let us know, as we only have limited spots available and the kitties lose out on potential families visiting them when we have no shows.
 We require 24 hours notice if you will not be able to make your scheduled time.

We highly recommend booking your session ahead of time!!! We sometimes sell out of appointments on busy days such as Saturdays and Sundays and can NOT guarantee there will be space available for a walk in appointment. During the week you will have a better chance of there being availability, but we still recommend booking before!

Unfortunately, we can not accomodate this request. We have many people who plan, book and pay for sessions with the kitties and allowing others to go into the lounge or "peek" for free is simply not fair. BUT don't fret - we have a kitty tunnel over the Meowy Jane boutique, so sometimes you can catch a glimpse of a kitty hanging out in the tunnel!

As fun as it would be to bring your kitty for a playdate in our lounge, we are not able to have outside cats mingling with ours. We also can not intake any kitties who need to be rehomed, as we are fosters for the Animal Welfare Society and not a shelter. If you have or know of a kitty who needs a new home, please bring them to the Animal Welfare Society or another local shelter, as they can provide medical care and set your kitty up for success in finding their new forever home.

Having a cat in your lap or playing with you is the best, we know! But it should be said that cats will be cats, so we cannot guarantee that they will be awake, playful, snuggly or engaged with you during your session. They tend to alternate between napping and awake time throughout the day, and we can not control when that will be. Either way, we believe relaxing in the mere presence of a cat is truly a gift
